BMS Celebrates record A level results
Students in the Sixth Form at Bedford Modern School have produced a record breaking set of results at A level. With 75% of students achieving either an A or a B grade at A level. The A-C rating also set a new record with 94% of grades either A, B or C. Y12 also produced a record breaking performance at AS level beating all previous figures.
Significant achievements by girls and boys who gained straight A’s include, Sarah Harrison, Harriet Ibbett, Michael Damiani, Holly Land, Tom Deakin, Francesca Fletcher, Hannah Macaskill and Hayley Thorpe. The overwhelming majority of students achieved their first choice University place with many using their straight A grades to go on to either Oxford or Cambridge, or one of the prestigious Russell Group Universities.
Particular praise should be given to Hari Shanmugaratnam who goes to Oxford to read Medicine, Francesca Fletcher to read Physics at Imperial College London, Tom Harbour to read Natural Sciences at Cambridge and Tom Lord who goes to Durham to read Physics.
The Headmaster Stephen Smith commented “with record A level results of 75% A-B, with only a handful of exceptions, all students at BMS gained either an A, B or C grade at A level. Our students are gaining places at some of the most competitive Universities in the country on courses that require students who are well rounded, possessing not just academic flair but intellectual curiosity and a desire to learn. Congratulations to all of those students in Y13 for their hardwork and effort at every level of the school – well done you deserve it.”
