Bedford Modern Sixth Form

Events

We understand that making the desicion to transfer schools is a very personal one and our interview and application process is a two way street. We hope that you will want to find out as much about us as we will want to find out about you. We offer a variety of ways in which you can come in and find out more about us; it is important that you do and that you will take us up on the opportunities we offer.

Sixth Form Information Evening

An opportunity to come and listen to the Headmaster and Director of Sixth Form outline details about life in the Sixth Form. Then a chance to tour the Rutherford Centre and talk to staff and, most importantly, students about the subjects which interest you. We have students on hand because we feel it is important that you get the opportunity to hear from them what A level study is like.

School Open Mornings

An opportunity to tour the school and visit the different departments. The Director of Sixth Form is on hand in the Rutherford Centre to see parents and students to offer additional advice and guidance on subject choice and their likely impact on University courses.

Taster Days

Taster days should form a critical part of your decision making process. They offer you the chance to get behind the gloss of the open days and allow you the opportunity to see us in our normal day to day envrionment, warts and all. You will have the opportunity to observe lessons in the subjects you want to study, spend some time in the Sixth Form Centre and meet with students. There is also another opportunity at the end of the day to meet with the Director of Sixth Form to ask any questions and address any other concerns that you may have either about subject choices or about making the transfer to the Sixth Form.

Application Process

All applications should be completed and returned to the Admissions Office at Bedford Modern School. We then make offers of interviews to students. The interview process consists of two interviews one academic and one pastoral. We ask you to send us a copy of a piece of work that you are proud of that will form the basis of the academic interview. Interviews take place on Saturday mornings in January and we hope to make offers to successful candidates by February half term.
